The Only Disney World Packing List You'll Need (Plus 15 Things My Clients Are Glad They Packed )

Packing for Disney World can feel a little overwhelming.

Should you pack ponchos?

Do you really need a portable charger?

How many pairs of shoes should everyone bring?

And what always seems to get left behind?

After helping families plan Disney vacations, I've learned that the goal isn't packing more.

It's packing smarter.

The truth is, you don't need a suitcase full of gadgets to have an amazing vacation.

You just need the right essentials, a little preparation, and enough room in your luggage for the souvenirs you're almost guaranteed to bring home.

This guide will walk you through everything I recommend packing, along with the items families most often wish they'd remembered once they arrive.

Quick Answer

If you're only packing the basics, don't leave home without these:

✔ Comfortable, broken-in walking shoes

✔ Portable phone charger

✔ Refillable water bottle

✔ Sunscreen

✔ Poncho

✔ Cooling towel or portable fan

✔ Medications

✔ Comfortable backpack or park bag

✔ Extra socks

✔ Patience and a flexible mindset

That last one may be the most important item on the list.

My Packing Philosophy

Before we dive into the checklist, I want to share one piece of advice.

Don't try to prepare for every possible situation.

Disney has gift shops.

If you forget toothpaste, you'll be okay.

If your child spills ice cream on their shirt, the vacation isn't ruined.

Packing is about making your trip easier, not making it perfect.

The more relaxed you are, the more relaxed your kids will be too.

What to Pack in Your Park Bag

Your park bag is different from your suitcase.

These are the items you'll likely want with you each day.

Essentials

✔ Wallet

✔ Phone

✔ Portable charger

✔ Charging cable

✔ Refillable water bottle

✔ Sunscreen

✔ Lip balm with SPF

✔ Sunglasses

✔ Park tickets or MagicBand (if using)

✔ Identification

Comfort Items

✔ Cooling towel

✔ Portable fan

✔ Poncho

✔ Small travel umbrella

✔ Hand sanitizer

✔ Wet wipes

✔ Tissues

✔ Bandages

✔ Pain reliever

✔ Allergy medication

Snacks

Disney has fantastic food, but I still recommend bringing a few snacks.

Granola bars.

Trail mix.

Fruit snacks.

Crackers.

Anything that helps avoid "hangry" moments while you're waiting for your next meal.

Especially with younger kids.

⭐ Worth Packing?

Portable Charger

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Absolutely.

You'll likely use your phone throughout the day for photos, mobile ordering, maps, and checking wait times.

A dead battery can make your day much more frustrating.

Refillable Water Bottle

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Definitely.

Florida heat and long park days make staying hydrated incredibly important.

There are plenty of places throughout the parks where you can refill your bottle.

Umbrella

⭐⭐⭐☆☆

Nice to have.

Personally, I'd choose a lightweight poncho over an umbrella because it keeps your hands free and takes up much less space in your bag.

Cooling Towel

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

One of the most underrated things you can pack if you're visiting during warmer months.

They're inexpensive, lightweight, and surprisingly effective.

What to Wear to Disney World

If there's one place where comfort wins over fashion, it's Disney.

You're going to spend hours walking, standing, and exploring.

The cute shoes you bought just for vacation?

Leave them at home if you haven't worn them before.

Instead, choose shoes you've already broken in.

Your feet will thank you by the end of the first park day.

Clothing Checklist

For each person, I recommend packing:

✔ Comfortable shirts

✔ Shorts

✔ Lightweight pants (during cooler months)

✔ Sleepwear

✔ Underwear

✔ Plenty of socks

✔ Swimsuit

✔ Light jacket or sweatshirt

✔ Hat

✔ Comfortable walking shoes

✔ Sandals for the resort pool

Kasi Recommends

If you're deciding between bringing one pair of shoes or two...

Bring two.

Florida rain can appear out of nowhere.

There's nothing worse than starting your day in damp shoes because yesterday's pair never had a chance to dry.

A second pair can make a huge difference in your comfort.

Don't Forget Your Resort Bag

Your suitcase gets you to Disney.

Your park bag helps you enjoy the parks.

But don't forget about everything you'll use back at the resort.

I recommend packing:

✔ Pool bag

✔ Flip-flops

✔ Refillable coffee cup

✔ Laundry bag

✔ Phone chargers for everyone

✔ Pajamas that are comfortable after a long day

✔ Swim goggles for the kids

✔ A favorite bedtime stuffed animal or blanket if you have younger children

Some of my clients tell me their kids' favorite part of the vacation ended up being the resort pool.

Don't overlook those quieter moments when you're packing.

15 Things My Clients Are Glad They Packed

Even the best packers forget something.

The good news is that most forgotten items won't ruin your vacation.

But these are the things I hear families mention most often after they get home.

1. Extra Socks

Florida afternoon rain showers happen more often than many people expect.

Having a dry pair of socks can completely change your day.

2. A Portable Phone Charger

Your phone does a lot at Disney.

Photos, maps, mobile ordering, ride information, dining reservations, and staying in touch with your group all add up.

A portable charger is one of the best things you can pack.

3. Ponchos

Buying ponchos inside the parks is convenient, but it usually costs more than bringing them from home.

They're lightweight, inexpensive, and don't take up much room in your bag.

4. Zip-Top Bags

They're surprisingly useful.

Protect your phone during a rainstorm, keep snacks organized, or separate wet swimsuits before heading home.

5. Refillable Water Bottles

You'll appreciate having cold water nearby during long park days.

6. Glow Sticks

If your children are younger, bringing glow necklaces or bracelets from home can be a fun surprise for nighttime shows.

7. A Small First Aid Kit

Bandages, blister pads, pain reliever, and allergy medication don't take up much room but can save you from making an unexpected purchase.

8. Sunglasses

Simple, but easy to leave behind.

9. A Hat

Especially during the warmer months.

Shade can make a big difference.

10. Stroller Rain Cover

If you're bringing a stroller, don't forget the rain cover.

Florida weather can change quickly.

11. Laundry Bag

Keeping dirty clothes separate makes unpacking much easier when you get home.

12. An Extra Outfit for Younger Kids

Accidents happen.

Ice cream melts.

Splash pads are irresistible.

Having one extra outfit in your park bag can be a lifesaver.

13. A Small Pack of Disinfecting Wipes

Tables, high chairs, and little hands seem to collect everything throughout a Disney day.

A travel-sized pack of disinfecting wipes is great for quick cleanups before meals, wiping down stroller handles, or cleaning up small spills.14. Autograph Book and Pen

If meeting characters is on your family's list, you'll want these ready to go.

A thicker marker like a Sharpie is often easier for characters wearing gloves to hold.

15. Patience

This one doesn't fit in your suitcase, but it's probably the most valuable thing you can pack.

Not every ride will go exactly as planned.

Not every dining reservation will be perfect.

Sometimes the unexpected moments become the best memories.

Flying vs. Driving

One of the questions I get asked is whether families should pack differently depending on how they're getting to Disney.

The answer is yes.

If You're Flying

Keep your luggage as light as possible.

Remember to leave a little extra room for souvenirs on the trip home.

If you're checking bags, pack at least one change of clothes and any important medications in your carry-on just in case your luggage is delayed.

If You're Driving

You have a little more flexibility.

You can bring extra snacks, drinks, a larger stroller, or even a case of bottled water if you have the space.

Just remember that bringing more doesn't always make the vacation better.

Sometimes packing less makes traveling much easier.

Leave These at Home

Believe it or not, there are a few things I usually recommend skipping.

Too Many Clothes

Most families pack more outfits than they actually wear.

Choose comfortable, versatile clothing instead of planning a different outfit for every photo opportunity.

Brand-New Shoes

If you haven't worn them before your vacation, Disney isn't the place to break them in.

Comfort is far more important than matching your outfit.

Bulky Towels

Disney Resort hotels provide towels at the pools, so there's no need to pack extra beach towels if you're staying on property.

Oversized Bags

A huge backpack often becomes uncomfortable by the end of the day.

Choose something lightweight that still holds your essentials.

💙 Kasi's Corner

One of the biggest mistakes I see families make isn't forgetting something.

It's stressing over forgetting something.

I've packed for enough family vacations to know that no one gets it perfect every time.

You'll probably leave something at home.

That's okay.

Disney has stores.

There are pharmacies nearby.

And chances are, whatever you forgot won't be the thing your family remembers years from now.

What they'll remember is laughing together while waiting for a ride, watching fireworks, sharing a Mickey-shaped snack, or spending an afternoon at the pool.

Don't let packing become another source of pressure.

The goal isn't a perfect suitcase.

The goal is an unforgettable vacation.
